(Baby Chimps for sale)
Welcome to my site on Saving Apes
(Site viewed properly with the web browser Mozilla FireFox or Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer pages may not be displayed properly)
When learning on the plight of these creatures yet living so far away, I wondered "what could I do?" well besides my donations monetarily I researched a bit and what we do affects them...and many other species of animals around the world.
Visit the Mining, Palm Oil and the Bushmeat Crisis pages to learn what you can do and to be more informed .
There are other tortures Apes go through for if they are not killed they are often orphaned babies destined to be a badly kept pet or used in the entertainment industry. And please do not forget the primates in research labs that are suffering, imprisoned in cruelty.
You as one person can make a difference and if we all contribute a bit think what we will accomplish. I believe we can change things and educating ourselves on their plight and in turn educating others is a start.
This
is a video on Ape Smuggling to Cairo but this happens all over the
world and conveys what I am trying to get across about the plight of
Apes ...very clearly.
Below is Bongo, I adopted him from MONA-UK, a charity with the goals of rescuing primates in captivity, preventing captive primate abuse as well as conservation and education to protect these wonderful creatures. Please consider donating to MONA-UK in any amount you are able or adopting a chimp for a small fee paid monthly. This is a small organization with a huge heart giving all they can to preserve and protect chimpanzees.
Meet Jinga, I adopted her from Chimp Eden's site (if you do not know it is a show on Animal Planet on the rescuing of Chimpanzees by Eugene Cussons and his team and they reside at Chimp Eden Sanctuary). She is one of many chimps there who was rescued having been a neglected pet after she was orphaned when her mother was killed in the forest. Please visit ChimpEden's website and adopt a chimp to help fund being able to continue saving them.
"Friends Of Washoe" is dedicated to the welfare of chimpanzees and especially the chimpanzees
at the Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute located on the campus
of Central Washington University, in Ellensburg, Washington. Named after "Washoe" a chimpanzee, who acquired
American
Sign
Language
from
her
human
companions. She was the first non-human in history to acquire a
human language.
The book "Next Of Kin Conversations With Chimpanzees" by Roger Fouts. For 30 years Roger Fouts has pioneered communication with chimpanzees through sign language, beginning with a baby chimp named Washoe. You will learn a great deal about the intelligence of the Chimpanzee and be moved deeply by Roger Fouts account of their relationship, astounding read! |
