I want to tell you about my favorite TV show "Escape To Chimp Eden" The shows main character is Eugene Cussons. He along with his crew rescue Chimpanzees whom were orphaned after their mothers were killed for bushmeat. Some are living as pets, some are newly taken from their mothers. It is a show in which you can walk by his side and see what he must go through to achieve success in his rescues. It is on 9:00 p.m. eastern standard time on Animal Planet. The Chimps are rescued and brought to Chimpanzee Eden, a Sanctuary in Nelspruit in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa.
You can see the Chimps progress as they grow and learn after being kept in neglectful and abusive conditions. Sold to people as pets as a novelty. Living lives imprisoned for the purpose of mankind solely and their own needs forsaken.
On a personal note I want to thank Eugene and Phillip for the knowledge they have given and answering all and any questions on their message board at www.chimpeden.com and in the chat room. They have brought the chimps to us and moved us by their plight. They have a lot of support but surely need more so stop on by www.chimpeden.com and perhaps you can help them out a little. Adopting a chimp means you have access to 2 types of adoption packages and include your very own pictures of your chimp and more. The chimps are a joy to watch and anyone being able to visit the sanctuary it would be such a priceless and rewarding event for you I am certain. There as well daily updates of progress and events with the chimps each day. There is alot ot check out at the website..please visit.
I wish Eugene all the best in every rescue he journeys on. That Chimp Eden can accomplish all it needs with funding and that everyone at Chimp Eden knows that they have touched hearts deeply, and the work they do is so appreciated and held in high regard. I created this website inspired by Chimp Eden. I was inspired to see if there was anything else I could do...and though I can't be by their side in their mission I can help in my own way. Through education and conservation.
